Wednesday, July 29th, 7:00am

Last night on our way home, we happened to run into Ato Teklu (our attorney and "host" more or less), and Mr. Menywab Assefa, director of Bete Hitsanat Association (an association that has hundreds of children at 3 orphanages in Ethiopia--one from which Esther came). They invited us to have coffee (or kaffe) with them. We had a wonderful 2-hour conversation about life in Ethiopia: the struggles, the attempts at development, needs, growth, outside organizatons, the culture. It was wonderfully insightful. I love Menywab's desire to make a difference, and his ability to believe he can and is. In a sea of great need, I often wonder if I would have such courage.

I treasure these "random" moments that the Lord has brought to us.

We are off to the market. :)

  1. Oh, lucky you! I would've loved to have had time to talk with Menywab in particular. I was so impressed with him and the director that we met at our baby's Bete Hitsanet site. They are very progressive, devoted, compassionate people.

  2. This just touched my heart and was such a great description of everything and Kari you write well to express the emotions all of us would have. The look on your face and Esters is awesome ...Hubby too....(Papa) wow . When you said humbleing experience , I knew exactly what you meant... Picture this I have an Aids ministry to orphans and widows in Uganda Jinja... The call me MUM Anne and whenever I had something that needed prayer they were faithful to pray and also get this THEY FASTED for me....Not many people here who have such huge amounts of food consuption would be willing to do that. I was humbled at that They FASTED for me and my family. Try and wrap your mind and stomach around that one..I loved going to the thrift store and gathering nice fun things to send light clothing and asked that anyone with small kids would donate them to this cause instead of the thrift store and it was so much fun to see photo's of the people in them...I am thinking you are home now????? Anyway welcome home you have someone else to love and we can't wait to meet Ester, Please keep M&K in prayer as they wait patiently for Eli, I admire all of you so much for making a BIG diffrence in our world and the one too come.. Love Anne & George
